The Original, a whole story…

This design is above all the culmination of my thinking when I created the very first Bouquet of Words. My first intention was to gather testimonies from all around my uncle, a person who matters to me. Attached to a sentence of the Little Prince of Saint Exupéry, it was also necessary to make sure that it was beautiful: “It’s really useful because it’s pretty”.

So that the words are the “stars”, I decided to stay in the concept and therefore not to represent anything in particular.

After putting the words together, and reading them, I was struck by the idea of ​​their convergence, of the unity they formed. The idea also that they acted as markers of meaning.

Inspired by a poster during a visit to an exhibition at 104 in Paris, I made the first design with a central exclamation point that recalls the “you are here” found on city maps . I surrounded it with converging color cartridges.

A Bouquet of Words brings together an average of 28 participants.

This first design then evolved into the current design to accommodate the collective signature in the center. It replaces the center point. This signature includes the list of all participants, mirroring the person being celebrated. Some of the messages also close the circle completely to build a real whole and translate the uniqueness of the person while showing that it is composed of multiple elements: it is for me the idea that we are unique beings and complex.

The choice of colors fell on those of the rainbow to translate the idea of ​​decomposed light which by recomposition brings lighting. The idea that all these feedbacks from the environment build the meaning we run after as it is built in all our interactions. And particularly those that are played with our entourage.

While making the first, I was struck by its impact. Today, with hindsight, it seems to me that it somehow acts as a revealer of meaning. I am convinced that this is where its strength lies. This, in turn, gives meaning to my approach.
